Glad to have read this at this time. All of these events pale in comparison to the mysterious voices that John is hearing.
Prophet has many memorable scenes. Then I’ve watched it or read about it later only to see how the media spun it into their own tool. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book.

While I understand their Biblical significance, the scenes in which John sees a lamb seem a little awkward and forced to me, particularly the scenes toward the end of the book. While I appreciate a little mystery and that kept me going, there was so much technical description of the news aspect of it, I really felt the story was bogged down.
Prophet is a novel about the media, about reporting news, about politics, about biases, about balancing what do people NEED to know, what do we want people to know, and what do people think they need to know.
However the ending almost as much of a disappointment as the rest of the book. While working at a local ski factory, he began writing This Present Darkness, the book that would catapult him into the public eye.

Although the third book in the series, the story stands alone as a masterful telling of a heart wrenching story. This book could be the best one Frank Peretti has ever written. Deals with some other interesting issues: That it was presenting the opposing viewpoint in such exaggerated extremes that it was losing touch with reality. This is the powerful tale of John Barrett, anchorman for NewsSix, who not only catches his producer fabricating a story and lying to cover her tracks but he hears voices as well.
This story dares to delve into a controversial topic, but does so from the anchor desk of a top notch media center. Inhe gave up his pastoring position and began taking construction jobs to make ends meet.
He and his wife were married inand Peretti soon moved from touring with a pop band to launching a modest Christian music ministry. He describes the sets, the camera angles, the tricks of the trade, the logistics, the time crunches, the office discussions, and other aspects of the job with such vivid detail that I could easily imagine every scene.
