I can unde This book annoyed me to no extent. Is she really the emotional retard that Jason thinks she is? Trivia About Being Committed. This is a really good read about being committed to both yourself and others in your life. The first pages were painful. Even Jack, who presumably we are meant to like, is judgmental, stubborn and self-absorbed.

The thing that really left me unimpressed about BC is that the main character has such a personality turnaround, the likes of which I’ve never witnessed in real life.

All of a sudden she changes the way she dresses, puts more effort into her appearance and tries to be nice. Okay, this is definitely a summer beach read… one I snagged for free from an e-book sale and read here and there on my phone.

Initially, I enjoyed the idea of her having to reach out to Jack and make amends.

I loved this book! As well as being rich in humour, Anna’s novels invariably deal with some of the deeper and more complicated issues facing women, such as grief, abandonment, rejection, motherhood, and sibling rivalry. Maxted’s books are usually chick lit with a dark, more realistic side.

I liked her from the beginning. Girl gets jealous and wants New J back, but has a fling with Old J in the meantime.

It definitely wasn’t terrible or anything but the plot was also a little weird. Why do authors keep doing that to me?

Ten years is a very long comjitted. While it certainly is not great literature and doesn’t even have much of a plot, it’s funny and pleasurable to read.

Bsing just couldn’t give it up, because I felt like I should finish it, I don’t know why!


Born inshe is married to fellow author and journalist Philip Robinson and they have three young sons. I feel kind of ambivalent about this book. All committeed all, the book has very little “story” to it. Both were about unlikeable single-gal detectives though “Mystery” was set in Ireland beng, and the glass-half-full theme prevails.

It will make you question your actions against those in your relationships. There had to be some symbolism as to her occupation she is a detective and paid to uncover dirty and truth about strangers. She has to face the past and family secrets head on and once she had really and truly accepted them she can be a productive and stable force in her own life.

Hannah’s family is acting like she blew the one fluky chance she had of hooking a permanent manand maybe – just maybe – there’s something in Jason’s theory that being committed means first coming to terms with your past.

There were some thoughtful insights in mwxted story, and I felt I learned a little about human nature and why people maxteed what they do.

Sometimes it isn’t snaring a man that’s the problem but keeping him. It did keep my attention- I stayed up late bejng then finished it in the morning. It took me a really long time to read.

Anna Maxted’s characters say and do the most outrageous things, usually without any sort of filter, sort of like a room full of 4-year-olds.
